Here's a marriage proposal that bear-ly ended with a yes.


The couple's engagement was interrupted in stunning fashion when a wild black bear waltzed across a terrace at the Chipinque Ecological Park in the northeastern Mexico state of Nuevo León last Wednesday.

Ricardo Morales told DailyMail.com that he was about to place the ring on the finger of his girlfriend, Cecilia Canabal, when the large animal suddenly and slowly walked past the rose-covered floor and 'marry me' block letters.

'Before the bear passes, we listened to the gardeners and the people from the hotel, from the restaurant, they told us not to be afraid,' Morales recalled.

'We looked over there and saw a black shadow, obviously. And this shadow was getting closer to us.'

The stunned couple, who have been dating for 14 months and will get married in the spring of 2023, looked towards their photographer friend who was recording the proposal and stood their ground as the bear strolled right by them.

The bear, Morales remembers, did not make noises or threatened any of the others restaurant customers.

'There was no sense of nervousness, of fear towards the bear because it was not aggressive,' he said.

The bear eventually climbed over over a wall and headed down into a garden before disappearing. 






Ricardo told DailyMail.com that he about to place the engagement ring on Cecilia's finger when they noticed the bear's shadow and were told by the hotel restaurant staff to keep calm

The viral video, which was uploaded on Morales' Facebook account, drew plenty of congratulatory messages from the couple's friends.

Morales' friends jokingly applauded him for coming up with the idea of using the bear as a prop to pop the question to his girlfriend.

Gerardo Rodríguez asked, 'how much did it cost to rent out the bear?' According to Morales, 'it was part of the romantic dinner at Chipinque.'

Danyela Díaz saw the bear's appearance of a healthy marriage.

'May it be a sign of much prosperity, love and happiness,' she wrote.

'What a unique moment.'

The animal's sighting comes a week after another black bear was recorded walking into a restaurant at Chipinque Ecological Park.

The video shows the bear standing over a row of covered food trays as diners kept their distance before it eventually left the restaurant without incident.
